Unlike offices and malls, warehouse and workshop floors endure constant forklift and pallet-truck traffic, dropped loads, oil and chemical spills. The selection standard is not "looks good" but "stands up, easy to maintain, and repairable when damaged." It is also where industrial flooring decisions most often go wrong — and where the biggest value of careful selection lies.
Wear resistance: Frequent turning and braking by forklifts demand a floor that resists abrasion and stays dust-free and unspalled. Load capacity: Racking and stacking zones need enough compressive strength to avoid cracking or sinking. Easy cleaning and media tolerance: Oil, grease and mild chemicals are common, so the surface must rinse clean, resist penetration and not retain odor.
Epoxy flooring: seamless, smooth, wear- and oil-resistant — good for electronics or food areas that need clean rooms; downside is high hardness, demanding base requirements and possible surface spalling under heavy impacts. Concrete hardener (densified) flooring: economical, abrasion- and impact-resistant, ideal for heavy warehouses and dense forklift zones with low cost and simple upkeep. PVC industrial flooring: resilient, comfortable underfoot, impact- and slip-resistant — good for assembly lines and light-load storage where staff stand for long hours; individual sections can be replaced. Rubber mats / rubber flooring: impact- and oil-resistant and slip-resistant — good around machinery and for fall-protection buffers.
Floor life usually depends on the base, not the surface. Concrete base strength, thickness and flatness must match forklift tonnage; large spans should have properly cut and filled expansion joints, otherwise temperature change makes the slab heave and crack. Surface joints should also be offset from base joints to avoid concentrated stress that separates the finish layer.
Check base moisture and strength before work, control temperature and coating intervals during application, and allow adequate curing time before use. At acceptance, verify: no hollow spots or surface dusting, smooth joints, correct drainage slope, and a load test that meets specification. Any failing item should be redone before handover — do not deliver a floor with known defects.
